30-35 years ago, everyone loved it when 60 Minutes did the same thing to catch scammers.
I specifically remember a hidden camera episode investigating crooked service stations along I-75 in Georgia who scammed travelers on the way to Florida/Disney. They sabotaged the cars while checking the oil or air pressure, then charged outrageous prices to the desperate customers. Kids in the back seat whining about the delay and heat caused daddy to shell out big bucks to make all right in the world.
I see zero difference in what Veritas did. It would be interesting to ask Dan Rather about his opinion of the Veritas/McCaskill battle, then show him the clip from the 70s that he narrated.
That would be epic.
