Do people really do this?

You asked if people really buy their pie at Walmart and then present it to family as homemade.

For the record: I have never done this. Sure, I'm so awful with pie crusts I use oil instead of lard, but my "company pies" are 188% homemade.

My 2nd youngest sister DOES THIS!! Only now that she knows we all know (and Mom has passed on) she doesn't even bother with taking it out of the Walmart package. She just kinda tosses it on the table , as if to say "And you're damn lucky I stopped at the store and bought it!"

And that, in a nutshell, is why family holiday meals have turned into the equivalent of company pot-lucks.

Blu,

Making the pie crust is super easy in a food processor. Put all the ingredients into the bowl, and process. It takes less than a minute!

Pie Crust in Cuisinart

1 batch=

3 C flour
2 sticks butter, thawed
8 T cold water
¼ t salt

makes 3

roll out a little, store on waxed paper in plastic bags in freezer
