Good morning, all. It appears to be Friday Eve again. It’s also Maundy Thursday, but I never understood what that meant even when I was going to an Episcopal church.

"Maundy" is a corruption of "mandate" a similar term in Latin. It is applied to this Thursday because, at the Last Supper, which is generally (though not universally) believed to have taken place on the Thursday before the Crucifixion, which was on Friday, Jesus told the Apostles, "A new commandment I give you: love one another as I have loved you."
