Oh, and if you don’t mind that you can’t use the remote, you can play VLC on your Laptop while it’s plugged into the TV so you’re seeing Midsomers (or whatever) on the TV while it’s playing on the laptop.
That’s how we watch streaming content together in ArGee land.
Laptop doesn’t have HDMI port. That’s because most laptops I get are all old hand-me-downs. This one is from last year.
Set-top (co-ax)->TV.
DVD-> TV (HDMI 1)
That was the last combination I tried, and probably the first. I followed the instructions that came with the DVD.
So. I will wait until I can get someone in here to play with it, and in the meantime, I’ll cut my geeking time while I watch movies. Not what I wanted, but it is what it is.
:o|
HDMIs were not a “thing” when this laptop hit the market.
Thank you for your help. At least I know I’m not in the worst part of the relapse. (That’s the part that goes Walkabout when I need the logic aspect.)
Logic schmogic.
Wait, that’s probably one of the best arguments I’ve made all day.
I just had a post ready to send about my phone being taken over by Zuckerflake and his minions, and I lost it.
One niece thought it would be good to hook up all the phones so we all knew what everyone was doing, but now I can’t get out of it. I don’t have FB on my phone for a reason, and now I’m wondering if FB has my number anyway. I need for this phone to shut up.
It’s also an hour behind if I activate the weather, and all the incoming texts stack up with time stamps an hour ahead of me. I’m thinking I need to get a new phone. Its been very wonky since the trip.
I have never been Zucked, so I don’t know anything about being un-Zucked. I once got involved in a group text thing and waited patiently for the topic to die down and my phone NOT to be picked up in the next round. I was rewarded with not being included again.
Sorry, I have no tips for helping you get your phone to shut up.
And I think Zuck has all our phone numbers anyway. But I can’t prove it.
I think you're right, but he needs my permission to post it on his site and I won't give it. Ever.
So now, I'll start looking for a new phone....
...And they are NOT amused! LOL!
As I was cogitating this TV-DVD player thing late last night, I realized that it’s nothing I’m doing or not doing, nor is it the DVD player (new.) The TV is at fault. Period. For whatever reason, the HDMI and A/V ports are not functional. At least, as near as I can figure.
I thought of moving the TV from the bedroom in here, but realized this TV is on a pedestal and fits on the small table, whereas, the TV in the bedroom has wierded out legs on either side of the unit. I have no way to extend the length of the table. I would have to put the long TV stand back into the corner and it won’t fit because of the file cabinet.
I gave up space in the living room and bedroom to have a larger kitchen and I’m still not sure it was a good trade.
Good morning. I ... think I'll just go climb a tree.
There really are Viking Kittehs! They are called Norwegian and Finnish forest cats!
Thanks for the kitteh! It will help me swap out my winter clothes for summer ones!
G'orning, y'all!
Huzzah for Red Ridingthing’s battery! This is cause for celebration!
Thank you for poor, wet morning kitteh!
I was thinking of climbing a tree - but so that I would not be in the line of wrath. If the kitteh were actually coming for me, though, it could probably climb after me.
Y/W, but I won’t be able to hunt one up tomorrow. I have to head to Silver Spring, MD to give a training class.
G’orning, y’all!
Somewhere, I heard that a change of scenery is just as good as a vacation. Would you consider reporting back on that?
Anyway, Godspeed.
Gladly. I already know that walking to the other side of the building so I'm looking across the Hudson (Lady Liberty off to my left) instead of Lower Manhattan doesn't do much for me.
