Your statement about being a junkie if you take opioids is both ignorant and misguided. Perhaps you have been fortunate enough not to have suffered REAL CHRONIC PAIN! I mean when every second of every day you are in total agony and the pain completely consumes you. It effects everything you do and makes doing normal everyday activities a major challange.
Things like walking, bending, sitting, climbing steps, riding in a car, lifting, carrying things, just to name a few of the physical debilities. Not to mention the long term psychological effects that can drain you of the will to live. Using the term "junkie" to label every person that takes opioids and truly suffers from chronic pain is shallow and misinformed.

Well said. I've lived with Fibromyalgia for 30 yrs, along with Osteoarthritis, the drugs for that destroyed my gastro tract, The IDIOTS they call Physio's popped and collapsed 3 disc. The last was a 'certified Physio' 2 visits he popped and collapsed the L5/S1 with an annular tear. 2 Neurosurgeons and a Back Ortho said they'd not touch the -4 OP spine. Try living with Gastropresis for those who don't know that is a Paralyzed Colon. Next step is a J tube for feeding, only reason it hasn't been done is I'm Hypothyroid, NO SOY allowed. We are individuals, not a average mass population. We each have a different need depending on health conditions. We are NOT junkies, as we don't have withdrawal issues, We just get MORE PAIN. And what most have MISSED we are still in 2 damn wars with War Wounded. Many will never be pain free. Younger Veterans are now committing suicide because pain meds were withdrawn 3 months before civilians had their's reduced. Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth because they don't want their illusions destroyed. ― Friedrich Nietzsche https://www.rutherford.org/about johnw@rutherford.org This is the SOP in the STREET JUNKIE DREAM BILL for Intractable Pain Patients. https://www.nih.gov/research-training/medical-research-initiatives/heal-initiative They couldn't even use the correct terminology or the right number of Intractable Pain Patients, it is more like 100 M not 25 M. And any new med will be a decade or more away.
