Hopefully he succeeds.
A Study in Vietnam vets showed that about 95% of addiction is due to a lack of strong social bonds.
I feel that “addiction” is a by-product of the Hollywood hanger-on lifestyle in this business. If every wealthy actor, singer, performer is “addicted” then they constantly need these rehab stays and “treatment” just like they need agents and business managers. It’s just another ploy to take advantage of people who are good at playing pretend but horrible at every other aspect of life. Why is only roughly 10% of the population at large in 12-step programs but nearly half of Hollywood is? It’s also a community more replete with sex “addicts,” drug addicts and other addictions. Replacing one addiction with an addiction to “treatment” is just another way of taking advantage of these sad sack human beings who refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. No matter how talented it all ends the same way... even for talents like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson and downright genius such as Prince.
My brother is an alcoholic. Just got out of a 5 day stay in a lockdown facility on a 51-50. Still don’t know the whole story but when I picked him up yesterday I said....why do you have to drink? He said....lonely and bored. I just shook my head.
