Sessions needs to know what he can say and not say about the FISA application and the McCabe memo, and documents given to the Gang of 8. That implies a grand jury exists that is examining both matters. WIthout a criminal investigation, he could just provide the documents, with redactions perhaps.
It is also interesting that Sessions is the one who is being asked to testify. He is supposedly recused. Maybe no longer?
It could be that tomorrow is the day that Sessions is going to drop the hammer. Crossing my fingers.
