Murkowski just off the Senate flr, describing her decision w/Daines to “pair” their votes on Kavanaugh, essentially offsetting one another. Kavanaugh vote will be 50-48 with 1 “present” (Murkowski) & 1 absence (Daines).

Awful, self-serving, shallow, dishonest speech. Murkowski worships at the altar of the abortion death cult--throughout, she was huddled in the hallway with Feinstein angling for a way to vote no and still sound credible. She completely missed the mark. As always.

She had to "pair" her vote with Daines to assure a vote, There would not be a quorum of 51 Senators!
Herr arms were viciously twisted by Mitch for this. If she had not "paired" the Dems could have simply walked out and there would not have been a quorum: so no vote!

And, it would look bad if Kav was the first Justice since 1881 to be approved by only a single vote.
