Oh no, I didn’t mean you or any conservatives of course! That’s what the word damned meant, liberal. I’ll just use the term liberal Yankees from now on.
It’s kind of like how people here say they don’t want anybody from California moving into their state. There are plenty of conservative Californians just waiting to get the hell out.
We were some of them and I hate being lumped in with the others. Sorry to have done the same thing to you!
I actually had a neighbor explain that distinction to me. I was surprised they still use the term Yankee but it’s pretty common here. Anyway she said Yankees are fine, but not Damned Yankees, not when they move in and try to change the culture and local politics.
