The right times doesn’t make any sense, they are euthanizing him. What would be the downside to giving too much? Yeah, I suppose there are lots of laws that are illogical.
I just didn’t want you or the kitty to suffer too much. It’s nice that he’s on your lap and wanting attention. I know he feels your love and is comforted.

I wasn’t looking to euthanize him, just ease his pain like we do with humans. If I accidentally gave him too much, at least he’d die peacefully at home.
He has been such a faithful friend. I always called him my little man. He’s Maine Coon, orange color, so big some people didn’t even know he was just a kitty when they first saw him.
My dad always loved cats, some used to call him the “cat man”. I told him today to say hello to his grandpa when he passes.
