The FBI hasn’t interviewed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh or Christine Blasey Ford because it doesn’t have clear authority from the White House to do so, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.

IMHO that seems to make sense.

The accuser and accused have stated their positions under oath.
It wouldn't be in their interest to state anything different to the FBI now.

It is the statements of others and any pertinent facts the FBI uncovers that will confirm or refute their stated positions.

And that is what will impact their credibility and should be of interest to undecided senators (if there really are any).
