I went to HS around that time and I was thinking this: I too remember people going mysteriously into bedrooms... lines of people leading from bedrooms... they were snorting coke. Or smoking weed. Bedroom sidebars for drug use were extremely common. Occasionally a couple might hook up. But never seen or heard of a rape train (except in media) in my life.
I’m WAY older, so my world was so restrained that my college officemates thought I was a Narc because I was so straight. I’ve never tasted alcohol or drugs or smoked. But I collected wine and learned to do vertical and horizontal sniffings. And if I couldn’t smell alcohol in someone’s mixed drink, they sent it back. And boy was I popular at vineyard tastings.
