Not too long ago there were some news reports about how Congress (both House and Senate?) has a slush fund that members were using to make payoffs to people (women?) accusing them of sexual misconduct. Some demanded the names of the members who had accusers that had been paid off. Those news stories suddenly stopped. Somebody got to somebody and they all made a deal to protect each other. Perhaps its time to call for an FBI investigation. They want to destroy a man like Kavanaugh in the name of furthering their agenda, I think its time to play hardball.
read it and weep
I think they are retiring and slithering away.
So this bill was introduced in the House in order to stop taxpayer money from paying up....but no answers about Who, What and When. It hasnt been brought to floor for a vote in almost a year. Ryan isnt running for re-election....wonder why. These are elected officials. They work for us!! They should answer to US! OUT OF CONTROL. If theyve been accused, by the Democrats litmus test, they are guilty. Lets have the names.
As I remember, $17M has been paid out for Sexual misconduct suits from a slush fund. Where is Judicial Watch? We need a Freedom of Information Request.
WE WANT TO KNOW. . .WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW . . .IT WAS OUR MONEY.
I thought the FBI worked for white liberal elites... and never looked into ANY of their wrongdoings...
Not only should they answer to us, corrupt Congress is constitutionally required to publish the record of receipts for how ALL taxpayer dollars are spent.
"Article I, Section 9, Clause 7: No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time [emphasis added]."
So if theres a sexual misconduct slush fund, then the lack of public information associated with it is a constitutional problem imo.
It is unfortunately very legal. It’s not a ‘fund’. It’s a regular Congressional expenditure that is accounted for under ‘Awards and Settlements, Office of Compliance’. The amounts of a million dollars or so per year aren’t even pocket change in $4 trillion spending, so mostly go unnoticed.
Flake would make a lot of sense at this point.
Thank you for referencing that information.
It remains that the major constitutional problem with the sexual harassment slush fund is that, unsurprisingly, Congress has no express constitutional authority to tax and spend for such a purpose.
Also consider that the referenced letters official explanation of why only annual figures for harassment compensation were released is so that released information complies with statutes in the Congressional Accountability Act of of 1995.
So not only are crook lawmakers blatantly ignoring that they cannot justify such taxpayer dollar spending under Congresss constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers, but they are also evidently clueless that the Constitution expressly requires receipt-level public accountability of taxpayer money.
Corrections, insights welcome.
The double-standard will not allow examination of Congressional member’s sexual misconduct. The most powerful ones are above the law.
“Some demanded the names of the members who had accusers that had been paid off.”
It goes beyond that. We were promised that the list, including names and dollar amounts, would be released. Then... chirping. How do we get them to keep their promise in the next few days?
Tom Fitton should file a FOIA request NOW!!
Ive sent tweets, and emails mostly to those in the news who might pick up on it and open this story back up. But to DJT too...calling or emailing my Senators or congressman wont do a damn thing as theyre all Dirty Democrats. Aside from calling for an FBI investigation myself, which I also believe would not be effective, or could make me some kind of target, I honestly dont know what to do. Feeling powerless as Rome is crumbling.
Yes maybe Judicial Watch...going to contact today
The GOP doesn’t seem to have oppo research anymore. It appears as though they are just leaving the Dems to govern themselves. How very libertarian.
I swear it seems like Ryan is trying to throw the House.
I believe we should also start RANDOM DRUG TESTING on ALL members of Congress. The citizens have a right to know prior to the midterm elections.
