However, the more solid info available is that he's at the top of the list in integrity, patriotism, Christianity, honesty, skills, etc. Seems to me, the best choice, at this point, is to support him.
BTW, some have slighted his intellect. I disagree. He doesn't wear it on his sleeve. However, in response to question after question he came back with relatively quick, extremely informed, solid, knowledgeable, sharp responses. He had clearly done a lot of very clear and sharp thinking well ahead of the committee.
And, his interns/clerks all spoke very highly across the board--including his intellect.
Plenty of people have survived and excelled with a Jesuit education. They (the Jesuits) are incredibly smart and demanding. Just because one is a Catholic does not mean one should be “shaded”.
