As a 30+ year fan who became one as an adult(no childhood destruction) allow me to give you a checklist from OUR(your customers) perspective:
PC doesn't belong in SW. The whole idea was that it was NOT us, not HERE. It was an escape, a fantasy we could relate to but were not battered with.
You UNDID the core PREMISE of the story.It's like re-writing WW2 and saying the Allies were fools, the war was a waste and the Nazi's won. Did you have a corporate meeting to come up with the best way to kill 'old' SW so you could have a blank slate for your version? The bad guys were the Empire, the Rebels were the good guys. Evil lost in the end. Good triumphed. We celebrated and loved it.
You show the rebellion as losers. 30 years later the bad guys are bigger and badder. All those rebels died for nothing. They were stupid-WE were stupid to believe it! You wanted their past dead-killed- and their naïve fandom dead with it.(But you still want our $$)

You UNHEROED the hero.In 30 years he had NO adult Knights out there-no graduates except psycho nephew? You made him a weak, beaten loser in HIS eyes and the viewers eyes!Fans didn't want that anymore then they want a child molester Batman with a leather fetish or delusional Spiderman who climbs out of buildings and falls to his death.

Final clue that it's Disney's reimagined SW that is wrong- your lead actor( who has lived with this character) doesn't understand what the hell you did or why you're doing it. He told you to 'give the fans what they want'. Disney/Johnson said 'NO we give them what WE want'!!
