Pres and Mrs Trump welcome Polish Pres Duda and wife Agata on arrival at the WH.

“I haven’t wanted to speak to Judge Kavanaugh," says Pres Trump. Thinks it would be a good thing not to - so he's not questioned about it. But says he's "totally supportive" of his nominee. Calls him an incredible man and intellect and will make an incredible justice.

Pres Trump says trade and national security issues top the agenda of his talks with Pres Duda. @POTUS recalls his speech to the people of Poland last year. Said the crowds were a sign of Polish affection for the US.

Pres doesn't think the FBI should be involved investigating the allegation against Judge Kavanaugh. "They don't want to be involved," he says. "They say this is not really their thing." Pres thinks Senators will do a very good job looking into the allegation.

"I don't want to say that," said @POTUS, asked if the allegation against Judge Kavanaugh is all politics, "Maybe I’’ll say that it in a couple of days, but now now.”.....

...4h....Pres signs National Security Presidential Memorandum #14, to "counter, respond to, and recover from biological incidents at home and abroad." @AmbJohnBolton leads policy coordination. @SecAzar heads Biodefense Steering Committee, to implement Govt-wide responses....In statement, Pres says his National Biodefense Strategy "builds on lessons learned from past biological incidents," including the 2001 anthrax attacks, the 2009 influenza pandemic, and the 2014 West Africa Ebola epidemic.....Pres says his Biodefense Strategy "will address the full range of biological threats, including those that are naturally occurring, deliberate, and accidental." He calls that "a first for the United States Government."

By my count, this will be Pres Trump's 33rd joint press conference with a foreign leader, his 2nd with Pres Duda of Poland.

At joint news conference, Pres Trump says the bonds between the US & Poland have never been stronger. Asked Pres Duda if he agreed. "Glad he said yes," said @POTUS. Trump again hailed Poland's purchase of a US Patriot Missile system & for meeting @NATO defense spending standard.

...3h...Pres Duda again urged the US to establish a permanent base of American military personnel in Poland. Says he'd call the base, Fort Trump. Said it would serve as a guarantor of Polish security against possible Russian aggression.

Pres Trump said he shares Pres Duda's concern about possible Russian aggression against Poland. "I am with the president. I feel that he's right." Says Russia respects force and strength and the US has the greatest strength in the world due to increase in funding.

"I feel so badly that he's going through this," says Pres Trump about the allegation Judge Kavanaugh now faces. Slams Senate Democrats for waiting to the last minute to raise the matter. Accuses Dems of obstruction. But wants issue to be heard so there's no doubt about Kavanaugh...."I don't want to play into their hands," says @POTUS of allegation raised by Senate Democrats, but thinks "the woman should state her case," and Judge Kavanaugh state his, and then the Judiciary Committee should vote and "we will see what happens."....Pres Trump said he wouldn't be bothered by the FBI investigating the allegation against Judge Kavanaugh, but "the FBI said that they really don’t do that." And @POTUS says Kavanaugh has been through six background checks over his career as he climbed "beautifully up the ladder."

Pres Trump says the US trade deal with South Korean "has been fully renegotiated and is ready for signature." He says it may be signed when he attends the @UN General Assembly opening next week, or "shortly thereafter." Says the old deal was terrible, the new one is fair.

She doesn't want to commit perjury by testifying before congress? Testifying before congress under oath is a lot different than being an anonymous source used by Feinstein to attack Kavanaugh. Lying to congress could result in jail time. Her lawyer is trying to distance herself.
