Nothing like setting a really bad precedent. No one will be able to be confirmed. All it takes is an accusation and it is over.

I think an incident of this nature, this long ago, shouldn’t be a consideration for any nominee, left or right. This is not about politics, it’s about common sense. Everyone on the Supreme Court has probably done worse than Kavenaugh in their high school years. No one was perfect as a teen.

Only egregious or repeated since then crimes with pretty strong evidence should be considered from that far back.

I respectfully disagree.

Accusations from 35 years ago? Forget it.

In this case, for example, the smear is easy. Like Paul Newman said in the movie Absence of Malice (and repeated by Ray Donovan) "Where do I go to get my reputation back?"

I was telling my husband that I dated the brother of a young man who went on to become a state senator. I guess if he were to move on to try to become more, I could share some stories from 35+ years ago. But, I wouldn’t. What any of us did in high school, with some obvious exceptions, need to be left there. I am so grateful there was no social media back then.
