I frequently send little side notes via private message (pm) to those who post on the thread. I’ve received feedback that it’s hard for others to know which post I am commenting on in PM’s. I suspect that’s why many are reluctant to send side notes via pm. Sometimes, I do get confused when I receive messages without reference to the prior conversation or post. I will start including the post number or the post link in private messages to avoid confusing others, and I encourage others to do the same. Your assistance in keeping me and others on track is much appreciated! :)

Ransomnote...your words above, mine below.

I am most often playing catch up on these threads, trying my best to give each poster’s words a careful read and a follow up if I am at least on the same thread, or have something to add.

I have noted your pm’ s to me and appreciate that you have read what I wrote and had nice things to say!! However, as I did above, I try in my limited tech (not so savvy) way to copy the post so the reader of the new post can know of what I speak. I have not yet figured out how to use italics or underline, so I copy and paste. Is there some super slick way to use these symbols \|<^=> and letters to insert the post? Is that html? Coding? I don’t know!!!

I bow to the graphic tech gods and goddesses of FReeQ nation. I am not worthy.

AND...

Thank Q for all you do to keep us above water here and motoring on along the ride of a lifetime with Q.

Use a slew of asterisks (or something) at the beginning and end of the text you wish to highlight + respond to, followed by your thoughts + response.

For example ...

**** Use a slew of asterisks *****

The “Q” aficionados will certainly grasp! And it’ll drive the trolls crazy! lol WWG1WGA :)

You can make text italicized by inserting an html tag on either side of the text. However, once you add a single HTML tag in a post, then you must put paragraph tags at the end of each of your paragraphs (if you have more than one) because adding any HTML tags signals "all other text smushed together, and formatting ignored, unlesss otherwise tagged" (my words, not that of the HTML regime).

So to itallicize, you can add <i> in front of the word(s) and a closing itallics symbol, </i> after the words. Then, quick like a bunny, go through and put <P><P> at the end of each paragraph. (other people have similar codes that work - I'm just using what I learned in a class I took) if you have more than one paragraph.

Example below:
_________________________________________

President Donald J. Trump today announced his intent to nominate the following individuals to key positions in his Administration:<P><P>

<i>Bimal Patel</i> of Georgia, to be an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Institutions.<P><P>

Mr. Patel currently serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for the Financial Stability Oversight Council.  <P><P>

__________________________________________

Once you post that text, the coding is invisible but the necessary paragraph breaks and itallics are present.

You may find it easier to use a horizontal line under the cited text you are referring to.  I usually do. :)

*Note: the symbols above, when typed properly, would not be shown in this post had I not used a 3rd party free html editor to make sure that those HTML tags would be displayed as text and not actually hidden while creating the asked for itallics. There are many such sites.

I'm using https://html-online.com/editor/. They ask that you turn off ad blocking just while on their website  or donate to help  pay for the service offered. I typed this in the left window and the text is heavily formatted with extensive HTML coding I don't use normally, but it gets the look I want. I copy and paste from the right window into FR. For those who decide to use this type of editor - be sure to pull out any 8ch links that accidentally be picked up when copying a Q drop from an agregator.
