The book will explain it all. I was left with the impression that he could have pretty much any woman he wanted. But, yeah, his picks were his doom.
Don’t know much about Jan. (Not many do.) Only she was active till about 2000. Supposedly, the 9-11 attacks encouraged her to leave NYC for Woodstock, NY. A two-season stint on Designing Women (which I didn’t see—didn’t know she did it) and a recurring role on Third Rock from the Sun (which I saw a few times by pure chance) was her last big working period. Was increasingly withdrawn after that.
Mike Thomas details her final days (she died of throat cancer in 2014) in an online article somewhere.
