Nah, POTUS used to be able to call up the AG and tell him what he wanted done. Nixon kind of queered that deal by giving them an enemies list. Giuliani himself worked on the DoJ reform effort after THAT time it was weaponized. Anyway, now they have to have official go betweens and such so there are witnesses.
