For those interested in the WWII period, Twitter has a "RealTimeWWII" account, run by a gentleman who works at the Museum of London. His account features daily, sometimes hourly updates, following the actual timeline of wartime events. I believe he did the entire war period in that manner once before, now he's running through it a second time with further details added.

Good stuff. No other work or feature on FR compares to Homer J’s work recapping NYT’s day-by-day reporting of WWII. Reporting frequently was a first take on routine reports that later went above the fold.
Included; thumbnail mention of General Anthony McAuliffe’s response to Germans demanding surrender; “Nuts”. Initial reports of the 1944 Battle of Samar. That became the greater story of Taffy-3; 7 US Navy destroyers going toe-to-toe with a greatly superior Japanese naval force. Also recall Hanson W. Baldwin’s memorable reports from Iwo Jima putting words to Marine spirit and sacrifice.
