Platelet rich plasma is nothing more than a centrifuge concentrated mix of platelets and other components active in healing and regeneration from a person’s own plasma.

There has been a platelet shortage for many years now. Hospitals conserve platelets and wait till it’s almost critical at times. Other times they are out and patients need to stay in the hospital and wait till more arrive, as it’s too much of a risk to be at home with a count under 5.

Reading that article annoyed me for this reason. These transfusions can be better used elsewhere for those who need them. (If not as how they are, they can also be processed to remove the platelets for those who need them).
