He isn’t screening for 0-4 (LCdr). In the 80’s average guy was 2 as O-1 auto promotion to O-2, another 2 till 0-3. Then screening about 4 yrs later. Get passed twice, you’re out. 10 yrs still Lt 0-3 is on track, Canoe U Grad or not. I had 9 Canoe Grads in my squadron from same yr group, all Capts 0-3 after 10.

Kamala Harris did her best Groucho Marx comedy routine during today’s confirmation hearing (Groucho: “Answer yes or no. Do you still beat your wife?). For example, she asked Kavanaugh re the Mueller investigation:
Harris: “Have you discussed it with anyone at Kasowitz, Benson, and Torres, the law firm founded by Marc Kasowitz, President Trump’s personal lawyer? Be sure about your answer, sir.”
Kavanaugh: “Is there a person you’re talking about?” (he doesn’t remember the names of all those at the firm)
Harris: “I’m asking you a very direct question, yes or no.”
Kavanaugh: “I’m not sure, I need to know anyone who works at that law firm.”
Kavanaugh: “I’m just trying to think, do I know anyone at that firm.” (as she continues to push him to answer)
Harris: “That’s not my question.” (she cuts him off)
Kavanaugh: “I would like to know the person you’re thinking of.”
Harris: “I think you’re thinking of someone and you don’t want to tell us.”
Harris: “Who did you have a conversation with?” (She pretends she knows he did talk to someone and that she caught him hiding it)
Senator Mike Lee (R) offered a point of order, explaining law firms are so numerous (”like rabbits”), its not possible to remember all the names...and waits politely while being shouted down by protesters.
