Navigation is one thing, propulsion within a lifetime between two stars systems is quite another challenge!

Maybe they could get David Dechovny to star as a propulsion professor from another university.

Maybe they could get David Dechovny to star as a propulsion professor from another university ... whose specialty is zero-point propulsion ...so that the faster you go, the faster you can go ... and several days later the characters arrive at the solar system of choice.
