I would take that viciously executed thumbs down as proof of what McCain would have done “with a clean repeal.”
I suspect you're right. Regardless of whether it was a repeal and replace or a clean repeal McCain's vote was payback for "I like heroes who weren't captured". The benefits or disadvantages of the bill didn't enter in to it.
