In 1963 I was on a school bus with the HS baseball team that broke down half way between Barstow and Needles, on the way to a game with Needles.

We were stuck for 4 hours before it got fixed, game was delayed.

At about midnight when game was still being played the sprinklers came on, right side of field. I was playing 1B, had to move away from sprinklers between pitches, took them over an inning to find a grounds keeper to turn the sprinklers off.
