Fellow FReepers, This petition just went up on Whitehouse.gov. It only has 5K signatures out of min 100K needed. We MUST make this petition hit Way more than the Anti-Trump petitions that have 300K signatures. The First Ammendment is ours to lose.

I went to the site and I
think I signed it. I entered my name and email address and clicked the button that said "sign now."
Is that it?

CNBC:
Trump: Facebook, Twitter, Google are ‘treading on very, very troubled territory and they have to be careful’
Trump said in a tweet that Google’s search engine had “rigged” news story search results to show mostly “bad” stories about him and other conservatives.
He later criticized Facebook and Twitter.
He says Google is prioritizing left-leaning outlets and warns that the situation “will be addressed.”
The president’s comments come a week before Google, Facebook and Twitter testify before Congress.
Larry Kudlow, Trump’s economic advisor, says the White House is “looking into” whether Google suppresses positive articles about the president.

The last few petitions I’ve signed all have an identical problem. It sends an email back to me for confirmation, but the confirming link doesn’t work. Same is happening here.
Now what?

I didn't see that. Perhaps I need to deactivate my "no script."
I just deactivated it, so i'll try again.
Yup. That worked. Got a confirmation in my email that time.

Private sector companies do not.

This petition would destroy Free Republic It should be limited to platforms larger than a certain size. The target is megacorps like Goolag, Fascist book, and twitfest.
Smaller outlets do not pose a threat to public free speech.

The President should request that Congress pass legislation prohibiting social media platforms from banning users for First Amendment-protected speech.Should they then pass legislation prohibiting me from banning people from my home for First Amendment-protected speech? Eff all that.

And how did Warner do it? By "threatening new regulation of social media companies" exactly as you advocate.

Should they then pass legislation prohibiting me from banning people from my home for First Amendment-protected speech? If your home controls 90% of all public traffic of a certain class, then I would be in favor of seizing your home through the process of Eminent domain.
The power to control communications is too great a danger for the nation to survive.
Don't want your home seized? Don't make it a part of a critical national infrastructure.

And how did Warner do it? By "threatening new regulation of social media companies" exactly as you advocate. Requiring them to *NOT CENSOR* is not a regulation.
It is a prohibition for them to regulate.
