One of the main reasons Germany/Hitler went to war in the 1930s was because their economy sucked. They were stuck paying reparations for WWI, and they hated it. And Hitler did use Nationalism to stoke the fires of discontent.
Think about it. All those jobless German men are offered jobs and spiffy uniforms and money, of course they’re going to go with the Crazy One.
