Kyl was there before, right?
Wikipedia says that Kyl was in the Senate for three terms, starting in 1995, eventually becoming Minority Whip. He has gravitas.
I”m going with Kyl. No one could fault Governor Ducey for turning to a popular ex-Senator to fill out No Name’s term. Kyl is pre-approved by the Trump administration through his role as sherpa for future Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanagh. The sherpa role has another advantage. By accompanying Kavanagh to his personal interviews with 99 Senators, Kyl quickly gets back in the game, personally meeting all those he doesn’t know and getting an inside view of how they think.
Given Trump’s strong endorsement yesterday, it’s a done deal. To go further out on a limb, I’ll suggest that Mitch McConnell may even get a rest soon from his half-assed job as Senate Majority Leader.
