Count me and a second in. Getting the van ready now.
It looks like we are going to have to pass. We have a grandbaby due in July and can’t make the trip out west twice and can’t stay out for over a month.
I plan to be there. I’m looking forward to my first view of Mt. Rushmore — and the FreeQs. Flying to Denver and renting a car there seems to be my best option.
$139 (plus or minus) sounds reasonable to me for local arrangements.
We plan to attend barring any greater Biden insanity. Have had reservations for awhile.
Good to see a few more noting their attendance. C-the-Cat is without computer for a couple of days, but note that others are also keeping some sort of track.
I’m getting a bit excited to head out west again. :)
Ok, my plan as it stands now, is to come in from the southeast - I’ll be stopping for a night near Columbia, MO, then the second stop in Sioux Falls, then on to Rapid City. Should be an interesting route, though the real interest is likely to be when I start seeing the mountains on Day 3.
Returning, I’ll be stoping in Nebraska City, then in Paducah, KY, then home. Each day’s drive, I strive to make the first 2 drives longer and the third day, a shorter drive.
I was going to do the trip in 2 days, and that is still possible, but I do not like consecutive very long driving days. And the map puts me at around 21 hours of total drive time, so there’s that. Plus, it’s nice to be able to relax a little and take in the scenery as you travel.
Absolutely 100% will NOT be joining — ya’all have a good time.
If you and Mr. Greeneyes change your mind, I can get you there. Can’t speak for getting a room, though I will have a suite with a foldout couch if the situation arises. Just trying to accommodate. I’ll have to behave if there are others in the room, but I can do that for a few days.
Will be there as previously noted, Grandma may/may not be along.
Ha. Thanks. Mr. GE would have to be lassoed and brought at gunpoint. And as things are now, I would not dream of not being here with him-I’d be worried about him 24/7.
Well, on the one hand, I have guns, on the other hand, my lassoing skills are lacking.
And seriously, I wouldn’t want to put someone in a situation that they don’t want to be in. You take care of Mr. GE, I’ll visit Mt. Rushmore. :)
Perhaps you can fashion a cardboard cut-out of me and prop it up in the corner. I'd love to see pictures or vids of you guys' shindig, though.
And dang it. I wanted to see Mt Rushmore before I croaked.
Oh, well. Next life I reckon.
đź‘ŤHave fun. Been there and done that - bought a t shirt-course it was long ago.
Well. I would love to meet y’all. But at this point the likelihood is about .188%. You saw the decimal, right?
Today is my birthday, Ima hit hubby up with the notion of one last trip to Sturgis, throw the bikes in the bed o’ the truck and drag the camper. But I’m not hopeful.
Well, I’d love to see y’all, but I know also that it’s a pretty big trip. One of the motives for me is that I’m spending the entire week prior to the meetup weekend in the area, hoping to take in the sights. Lots of natural beauty in that area.
Happy Birthday, Wneighbor. 39 again, right?
Thanks Meyer. If I managed to talk the old man into going up we’d probably make it a week or 10 days also. He’s only been up in that area once but I’ve made several trips. Lots of places I’d love to show him. And we’d have friends to visit on the drive up (or back.) I’m not holding my breath or anything.
Thanks Mr. Oracle. For my birthday I want my president back! He’s got about 17 hours left to make it happen!
BREAKING: Joe Biden fires North Carolina U.S. Attorney who just charged 24 people with voter fraud.— David Chapman (@davidchapman141) March 21, 2021
Let the historians record, that the 2020 election was the cleanest, most honest election in the history of elections. So it has been written.
And we wonder why nobody would prosecute the election fraud? Some people love their jobs more than they love their country.
That might be a rather festive post, Mr. Bagster.
