Bill Clinton fired William Sessions - no relation to Jeff Session.
Both of your comments are correct. However, Jeff Session was the US Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama until he was fired by clinton on March 23, 1993. This was part of a purge of all US Attorneys near the beginning of clinton's new administration. The claim was that he did this to close down investigations in process and related to crimes he and his wife committed during his governorship. Would like to hear for others, was this move unprecedented - ie to fire all US Attorneys? What is the history of similar moves, if any.
