During their 1970s heyday, ELO had some of the most extravagant (and expensive) staging in the music business. I saw one of their Boston concerts around 1977 and they appeared to come out of a spaceship when the concert began.
They still have a spaceship theme, but now it is an image on their huge LCD screens.
