From the AJC article about Ketron Island:

According to the 2010 census, the island had a population of 17 persons.

The island is only accessible by a ferry from Pierce County that arrives four times a day. The closest mainland city is Steilacoom. There are no stores or mail delivery on the island.

17 people (interesting number!). Ferry service 4 times a day? What business goes on there?

Yes, noticed that as well. Very odd. Ketron is not in the Rain Shadow of the Olympics like the SJ Islands are. Many people have second homes in the SJs so the permanent population is small although it can swell during the rainy season.

I’ve seen other reports the population there is 27. Still, whether 17 or 27, might as well be 3 or 30.
