I keep getting back to “the plane” and I do wonder if it actually even crashed or not. Suppose they feigned a crash, he took off low and landed at the navel base.
Obviously, no ejection. I doubt he climbed out the side door either, because someone would have video-ed the parachute or the falling body.
Lots of question marks in my mind as to what really happened.
I’m considering this unsolved, but significant. We know it flew. We saw at least one F-15. We saw some tricky flying, unbecoming of a novice. We heard or read dialog that was said to be between the pilot and the tower.
But Q pointed out the event and mentioned missiles. It’s significant but I don’t know how right now.
