I had not considered the broad scope of protecting satellites from jamming, damage, etc.

INteresting. I recall Obama tasked NASA with bridging the gap between Muslims and the rest of the world. Seems theres some leeway in defining coverage. But once you pointed it out re Space Force, it does make sense. :)
