The lawyers on the ground usually fight like the dickens, including challenging the ballots in court. Depends a bit on the candidate, but it's not correct to say the Repubs just let it slide without a fight.
Perhaps it just seems that way - I haven't really seen a good fight since Bush v. Gore in Florida. I guess the media is probably not reporting on it, so my opinion is tainted by fake news.
