I don't consider Free Republic to be a "Big Tech" company. If they had a billion users world wide, then I might complain about this, but because they are small, they are not a threat to the concept of "Freedom of Speech."

Besides, Alex Jones is just the Canary in the Coal Mine. I notice that freeper "AAABEST" has just posted a thread saying he too was banned by Facebook.

If you think this is about Alex Jones, you are missing the point here. It's about all of us being threatened by these companies who control communications traffic in the USA.

Oh, and I don't listen to Alex Jones. I can't say I know very much about him because i've never listened to any of his programs, or whatever it is that he does. All I know is that people say he's some kind of nut.

Agreed. FR is just one of many political discussion boards. If someone doesn’t like FR’s rules or outlook - or whatever - there are many alternatives, alternatives that have roughly the same influence as does FR.

On the other hand, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter all have evolved into information monopolies. Either regulate them (by enforcing your “serve everyone who sits at the lunch counter” rule), or break them up.

There is a difference between Free Republic and Big Tech, but it’s not size. FR is privately held and Big Tech are publicly traded companies. They have more rules and restrictions than just FR, but both can establish rules for the use of their products. The problem is that Google, Facebook, and Twitter could care less about their users, what they care about are their advertisers and the advertisers are the biggest Lefties in the Land.
