The Chelyabinsk meteor had an estimated weight of 10,000 tons and exploded with a force of 500 Kt. If the energy scaled with the square of the mass that would be about 6.3 tones. I think.
There was a similar explosion, 2.8 Kt, right over the heart of Germany in June. The Air Force didn't mention that one either and it was larger and a lot closer to populated areas. This sort of thing happens several times a year and usually doesn't get much notice.
