Happy story for the morning ... Manafort prosecution's frustration with judge leads to fiery clashes

Josh isn't clear on the point, but the discussion he describes near the end of his article, between Ellis and Andres, took place after the jurors were dismissed for the day.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III specifically pushed Andres ... specifically to describe the link between wealthy Ukrainian politicos and Manafort. Ellis argued that the connection was not the basis of the case.

"What matters are the allegations that he made money from them and didn't report it."

The prosecution is trying to develop guilt by insinuation ... The tactic is that Manafort is aligned with the Russians, and should be punished for that. The criminal charge is a sideline in the prosecutors eyes. This team is totally focused on getting Trump in the court of public opinion.
