Republican State Sen. Troy Balderson, 56, appeared to eke out a win in Tuesdays down-to-the-wire special election to fill Ohios 12th congressional district after trailing Democrat Danny OConnor much of the evening.

The Republican, Troy Balderson, a state senator who ran a plodding campaign, led his Democratic challenger, Danny OConnor, by less than 1 percentage point with all precincts reporting. But an unknown number of provisional ballots are yet to be counted, and Ohio law provides for an automatic recount if the two candidates are ultimately separated by less than half a percentage point.
Looking at the pictures of Balderson and his Democrat opponent I was surprised. The R looked like a Dem and the D looked like an R to me. R with longish hair and a hippy dippy face and the D with short hair and kind of a square heavy set face. Funny.
