You should have made a police report; especially if you knew the person’s name. Then taken them to small-claims court to pay for the damage. It’s too bad they don’t have punitive damage in small claims court because this would be a perfect case for it.
I had a similar instance when two young children, maybe 10 yo, out walking their small Pit while I was out walking my Heeler. Their Pit got away from them and nipped at my dog. After that I started carrying pepper spray. Not just because of this one Pittie but because it happened at other times with other breeds.
In every case it was owner negligence; not the responsibility of the dog to contain itself.
This is what these horrible ugly dog-haters in this thread failed miserably at understanding.
When they have stopped attacking the breed and start addressing the real cause of these dog attacks; then and only then will they make any real progress in stopping or at least slowing it down. You don’t arrest the knife in a wrongful stabbing. These people need to keep their animals under control.
Frankly; I don’t like taking my Saffie around people and other dogs.
hahaha the owner was a homeless vagabond that didnt have two nickels..what he was using for a leash was his belt. i did make a police report and they knew the dog and owner..nothing happened..the dog had been in dog jail before. After my dog was taken care of I went and got my ccw and went looking for the pair of irresponsible man and dog. lucky i didnt find them.
thats not the only incident i had with pits, and none of them were friendly.
problem is when they are not under control they are deadly..you can’t seem to understand that important point. ccw owners are licensed and trained there is no such requirement for dangerous dog owners..wake up! this owner stood there laughing and said his dog just wanted to f my dog.
