Occam's razor: they are not nearly as salacious and incriminating as claimed. The FBI has concluded their investigation, no charges are being filed. There is no plan to ever release the laptop contents. (When police seize things with a search warrant, once the case is over they return those things to the person they seized them from, in general. Private papers remain private.) That's what has happened here.

This is my view of the simplest explanation, but I’m not claiming I know anything more about the laptop than the facts reported in the NY Post.
