It’s a fine point and has been mentioned before: the badge symbol unwinds counter clockwise while the pedo symbol unwinds clockwise.

If that design was recently added to the badges, then I would see the connection. If they have been there for decades, then it is probably not related to pedo. A 6 star badge leaves triangles all around. Looks like someone is just drawing straight lines to fit inside those triangles.
