The articles I read said the ~1,000 was the usual total from all the state websites--the same as the 40,000+ is taken from now.

It's mostly, imho, a fairly startling increase in legal measures, movements, cases, whatever you care to call it--in Trump's great effort to call the huge array of evil doers in high places to account--to ultimately arrest and punish with prison or execution. Time will tell. But that's what I take it as--as a minimum.

Put another way, it is a kind of statistical measure of how serious Trump is about dealing with the evil in government and other institutions of our era.

I can see how the 40,000 number is derived, the people who put that page together also provide the raw data. In contrast, that 1,000 number is, as far as I know, pulled from thin air.

I am not accepting that a sudden 40 fold increase is behind the data.

What's the old saw? Lies, damn lies, and then there's statistics. Do some digging. How are those numbers obtained? What do they represent?
