Why the use of the word fag so much? Are they gay or is it an acronym for something else?
FAG in the 8ch context has the archaic meaning of “one in a bundle.” Not derogatory at all.
Includes the aspect of "working hard" too, especially in a sort of schooling or tutoring context.
It’s just how 8chan people refer to each other - term of endearment as it were

No, I think it’s like, fags have an unnatural attraction for the same sex. So anything people have a special interest or attraction is makes them a fag to whatever it is. So planefags can’t get enough of planes, ever. Codefags can barely be brought out of the code to eat. Others might call it devotion and dedication. Out of that kind of single focused concentration can come brilliance.
It’s what guys who are working closely together call each other, precisely because they are not.
One of the ways they congratulate each other on that board is to send a naked pic, or some such.
