Canthaxanthin is a substance related to vitamin A that turns the skin orange fairly quickly. (Lasts a few weeks.)
It was once touted as a health-food “Tan.”
I know this from (ahem) personal experience back in the ‘80s. (Still have one old friend who loves to tell the story of when I showed up at the office orange.)
