The phony-baloney excuse for destroying and paving over the mise en scene of Kenniwick Man so as not to offend people who were unikely to be his descendants is an extreme example of this silliness.
The way I heard it, K man is not an Indian, opening the door to speculation that the Indians got this country in the same way that the whites got it from them.
