Low carb IS too restrictive when adopted as a new lifestyle. It’s stupid.
The ignorance in this thread is prolific, but I get it. After my own health recovery and turning EVERY single health concept on its head - which included correcting my own ignorance with a couple thousand hours of research & writing - it was clear that something else was needed.
After speaking with hundreds of people, 2 things have become clear:
1. People believe what they want to believe (confirmation bias),
2. People will not change until they have an impetus to change, usually a health event.
I will say this in support of everyone here trying to change, particularly those who have “accidentally” accomplished a goal: Congratulations, but I cannot tell you why due to the fact that my new approach is secret (it’s not what you think). Note: I write “accidentally” with intent. Think about it, but there’s much, much more to your health equation than the tests which, ironically, originate from the AMA.
Insofar as the determination of those who are desperately seeking a ‘diet’ to work for them: STOP. It’s nuts. Even Keto is not panacea. In fact, the dark irony is that Keto is Atkins redux with a twist. A short history lesson will reveal the facts.
My methodology is principally one of avoidance, but first a person needs to acknowledge all the threats around them. I’m not going to preach nor am I going to go down a list.
I refer to it as a “manner of living” and if anyone needs a “guide” you can look to Okinawa and their “food pyramid”. If grains and carbs - generically, as most ignorant people refer to them - are so evil, then Okinawa is an aberration. My position is that it cannot be dismissed. Ignore it at your own peril, but living a life as Okinawans do is much more than just reading a book, as we’re not “in” Okinawa (obviously). End of free advice, as there are about 1001 variables, including health conditions for which avoiding lectins - including grains - are mandatory (gluten is a lectin, btw). Phytates too. Gluten-free is BS unless it’s part of a broader regimen with a purpose (i.e., “to heal”). Throwing a bone, research Dr. Sidney Valentine Haas.
With that, I might have just saved some lives.
One final note: People who have read my book draft accomplished everything shared in this thread (not going to go into the cholesterol ignorance), but they did so NOT by avoiding CARBs, but by avoiding everything on my Blacklist. Right there I torpedo the “low-carb” religion and sends it right to the bottom, along will all other ‘diets’, including anything which resembles “low fat” (we need fat; you are killing yourself without it).
Best of health. Truly, but get off the damned ‘diet’ train.
I lied. One for final thought:
For those seeking a source of Omega 3, ignore the labels, as they are false. If a label says Chia or Flax and it says 1800mg of Omega 3, that’s only if you’re a chicken (one example). Divide by 10 and that’s the most you can expect (typically half of that, or 5%). This false labeling thing is a pet peeve of mine and one not yet addressed by the so-called authorities. Trust me, or research the human inability to digest seed and absorb ALA. Your choice. There are 3 types of Omega 3 fats and two are proven to be absorbed by humans; they also just happen to come from fish and animals having consumed the other one, converting into the other 2. Basically, you can get Omega 3 by feeding flax to your chickens and pigs (aside from fish, of course).
Interesting. I will look forward to your book.
Thanks!
