A lot of time in design you’re not trying to make information visible but to make some information invisible. By using different sized type fonts, viewers might read more their first time through. On second viewing, their eyes begin to blur out the smaller type and focus on the link they’re looking to use again.
Or the use of colors to delineate subgroups. You read until you know it’s not what you want, then skim to the next color group to begin searching again. And ALWAYS you minimize words. If a word doesn’t have a purpose, it should be gone. Old IBM Researcher here.
