I was talking about something totally un-related to Q with a friend. Out topic included how Russians view Americans, and I told him, that in my opinion, the Cold War never ended.

I asked him if he was aware of the large ring of Russian sleeper agents arrested a few years ago. To refresh my memory I went to find an article on this.

Now, the artile hangs it on the series "The Americans", but one of the things you learn reading the article is that, while the series is set in the 1980s, the actual events it is based on happened much later, in the 2000s, culminating in the arrests in 2010 (under Obama).

Already suspicious, the penetration was moved to a time period without Dems in the picture, but In REALITY it happened under Bush2 and Obama, not under Reagan/Bush1.

So that is where things get interesting. The spies were not really held long, they were all traded for 4 American spies.

At the time, in 2010, Obama had not made his infamous Bergdahl spy swap, so we (probably) didn't really understand that he was capable of using even something like a spy swap in a treacherous way. But now, in retrospect we know was doing that. The apparently REAL point of the Berghdahl swap was to provide a almost plausible reason to free Taliban terrorists (because Obama wanted to).

So, it's probably fair to assume the reason for this trade wasn't to get American spies back, but to get the Russians home, with again a plausible pretext. And, if the Russians had info that implicated Obama or the Hillary-run state department, well one can understand the URGENCY to do another 10 for 4 swap. A deal that Uncle Joe assured us was "a good deal". Sure, Joe.

The article further goes into some detail about the efforts of the Russians to infiltrate the Hillary circle-of-influence.

Which obviously leads to the question: where the Russian agents traded for spies and deported before any public trials could take place and they could spill the beans on how badly they have compromised Hillary or other Obama leftists?

Also, one thing we did learn is that they were targeting Columbia University and specifically student and faculty who were recruited by the CIA.

There are many questions about Obama's time at Columbia (including if there was any). One theory that has been put forward is that he was working for the CIA (thus the Pakistan trip and after-graduation job at the CIA front magazine).

Here's the article. This seems like an interesting thread to pull on, maybe others can tie more together on it:

What happened to the American spies who inspired "The Americans"

From the article:

The Russian spy who received by far the most media attention in the US was Anna Chapman, a 28-year-old redhead known for being “disarmingly attractive.”

British tabloids purported that Chapman had come perilously close to “honey-potting,” or seducing, a member of president Barack Obama’s cabinet, and that was the reason the FBI swooped in and arrested the spies when it did. But the FBI soon said such claims were patently false, and that the real impetus for the arrests was the work of another “illegal,” Cynthia Murphy, who had been in close contact with a friend and fundraiser of then US secretary of state Hillary Clinton.

Chapman, who lived in New York at the time of her arrest, was under close surveillance. Here she is chatting with an undercover FBI agent at a Manhattan bookstore:

The story goes on to talk about Chapman, the Cynthia Murphy tie to the Hillary fund-raiser is just dropped.
